AMD has officially announced the launch of its next-generation processor, the AMD EPYC, known as "Venice," which becomes the first high-performance computing (HPC) product in the industry to be completed and manufactured using TSMC's 2nm (N2) process technology. This achievement highlights the strength of the collaboration between AMD and TSMC, focused on the joint optimization of new design architectures through advanced technologies.
The advancement of "Venice" represents a significant step in AMD's trajectory with its data center CPUs, with a scheduled launch for next year. Additionally, the company has confirmed the successful ramp-up of its fifth-generation AMD EPYC™ processors at TSMC's factory in Arizona, underscoring its commitment to manufacturing on U.S. soil.
Dr. Lisa Su, AMD's president and CEO, emphasized the importance of TSMC as a strategic partner for many years, stating that the collaboration in R&D and manufacturing has enabled AMD to deliver high-performance products. She also highlighted AMD's role as a prominent HPC customer for TSMC's N2 technology and the Arizona factory, which serves as a clear example of their cooperation to foster innovation.
