Bosch has announced the creation of a new $270 million fund through its venture capital division, Bosch Ventures, continuing its tradition of investing in advanced technology startups. This time, the company has decided to allocate a greater portion of its resources to emerging companies in North America. Since its establishment in 2007, Bosch Ventures has launched six funds, and while its focus is global, attention is currently directed predominantly towards the North American market.

Despite the challenges facing the region, such as trade tensions between the United States and China, a volatile stock market, and recession fears, Ingo Ramesohl, CEO of Bosch Ventures, stated that the flow of opportunities in North America is stronger than ever. According to Ramesohl, the positive energy in the sector is remarkable, and innovation has not halted, which he considers a favorable moment for new investments.

The fund, which operates from offices in Silicon Valley, Boston, Germany, Tel Aviv, and China, typically makes investments ranging from $5 to $10 million, and it is expected to carry out between 20 and 25 investments from this new capital. As for the technology sectors of interest, the firm will continue to focus on automotive, climate technologies, cybersecurity, semiconductor manufacturing, energy efficiency, and enterprise software. There is also an emphasis on generative artificial intelligence, especially in its application to the physical world, such as in manufacturing.

Although Ramesohl clarifies that the focus is not exclusively on generative artificial intelligence, he acknowledges that it has been key in the company’s evolution since at least 2017, when the Bosch Center for Artificial Intelligence was founded. By the end of 2023, the company achieved the milestone of having all its products developed or produced using artificial intelligence. Ramesohl also noted that generative artificial intelligence is transforming the business landscape and fostering new innovations, particularly in the realm of operations.
