Getac's rugged laptop dares to combine artificial intelligence with combat features, but is there really a demand for it?

The AI acceleration is presented as a good option in a laptop designed to withstand falls.

The Getac B360 Plus is presented as a laptop designed to withstand extreme conditions, incorporating Intel Core Ultra processors and memory options that reach up to 32GB of RAM. This device features integrated artificial intelligence acceleration through Intel AI Boost, promising performance of up to 48 TOPS. Additionally, it includes integrated Arc graphics, although the effectiveness of these capabilities in real-world situations still needs to be evaluated.

With a 13.3-inch touchscreen that offers a brightness of 1400 nits, the B360 Plus is optimized for outdoor use. This model also includes a dual battery system called LifeSupport, which allows for battery swapping without the need to power down the device. Connectivity options are diverse, ranging from Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 to 4G and 5G network options, GPS, and a variety of physical ports, including Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI 2.0.

In addition to its physical robustness, the B360 Plus meets MIL-STD-810H, MIL-STD-461G, and IP66 standards, ensuring its resistance to drops, salt, and temperature variations. For hazardous environments, there is also an ANSI/UL 121201 certification available. This focus on durability is supported by security features such as TPM 2.0 and biometric authentication, suggesting a use case aimed at business environments.

While the high-tech and performance elements may attract certain users, the combination of rugged hardware and high-performance capabilities raises questions about its applicability in the real world. The price of the B360 Plus has not yet been revealed, but it is expected to be available for further exploration in the coming months.
