Meta unveils its artificial intelligence application to compete with ChatGPT.

This Tuesday, during an event called LlamaCon, Meta revealed the launch of its standalone application to compete with ChatGPT.

Meta, the company led by Mark Zuckerberg, has announced the launch of a new standalone artificial intelligence application designed to compete directly with ChatGPT. This development was unveiled during the LlamaCon event held on April 29. Until now, Meta's efforts in artificial intelligence had focused on integrating its chatbot Meta AI into Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp platforms.

The new application stands out from other AI assistants by allowing personalization based on the information that users choose to share on Meta's products, such as their profiles and activities. Additionally, it features a Discover feed where users can show their friends how they interact with the AI. For instance, users can ask the AI to describe them using three emojis and then share that experience.

It is important to note that the interactions users have with Meta AI will only be shared if they decide to do so. They are also given the option to provide more personal information so that the AI can offer personalized recommendations in future conversations.

Regarding the technology behind this new application, Meta has implemented its Llama 4 model, which includes an experimental voice feature. This feature, designed with full-time voice technology, will allow the AI to generate sound more naturally, rather than simply reading out written responses. Although the AI does not have access to real-time information or the internet, it represents a significant advancement in the conversational experience. The company has also warned that users may experience technical issues and has requested feedback to improve functionality.

Recently, Meta has also faced criticism. Investigations revealed that the company was utilizing pirated books from torrent servers to train its AI models. Unredacted court documents suggest that Meta may have used the online archive Library Genesis for this purpose.

On another note, in the field of artificial intelligence, OpenAI has introduced a specific phone number (1-800-ChatGPT) for users in the U.S. to interact with ChatGPT through their voice. This measure aims to make AI more accessible to a wider audience.

Finally, Reddit is introducing a new AI-powered search tool called Reddit Answers, aimed at providing well-structured responses to user inquiries, in an attempt to compete with Google in the search space.
