OpenAI presents a data residency program in Asia.

OpenAI has announced the implementation of a new data residency program in Asia, which follows the introduction of a similar program in Europe in February. This initiative, available for ChatGPT Enterprise, ChatGPT Edu, and the OpenAI API, aims to help organizations located in Asia comply with local data sovereignty requirements while using the company’s artificial intelligence products.

Eligible API customers and new subscribers to ChatGPT Enterprise and Edu have the option for their data to be stored in compatible Asian countries such as Japan, India, Singapore, and South Korea. According to a statement released by OpenAI, "for the API platform and ChatGPT enterprise products, data is kept confidential, secure, and is your absolute property." The implementation of this data residency program is part of OpenAI's efforts to accelerate its international expansion. This week, the company also introduced "OpenAI for Countries," an initiative aimed at developing the necessary infrastructure to better serve its global clientele.
