Sam Altman Claims OpenAI Will Fix ChatGPT's New 'Annoying' Personality, Though This Viral Warning Is a Good Temporary Solution.
Let's skip the formalities.
The CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman, has acknowledged that the character of ChatGPT 4o can be excessively playful and has indicated that they are working on adjustments to tone down its personality. These changes, aimed at reducing the model's "spoiled and annoying" tone, are expected to be released this week.
In a social media interaction, Altman mentioned that in the future, the company should offer users different options regarding the AI's personality. Recently, many users have pointed out that ChatGPT tends to add compliments and an enthusiastic attitude in its responses, which can be frustrating for those seeking straightforward and efficient answers without unnecessary embellishments.
In addition to confirming that a solution to mitigate this personality will be implemented, some Reddit users have shared methods to improve the current user experience. One user, under the nickname TedHoliday, proposed a command that eliminates unnecessary flattery and comments: "Can you store a memory to stop commenting on the quality and validity of my questions and just get to the point? I don’t want to be manipulated with flattery by a robot."
Another user, known as MrJaxendale, has developed a command called "Absolute Mode," which instructs ChatGPT to eliminate any form of interaction it deems excessive or unnecessary. This mode promises more direct responses, discarding the usual courtesy that can often make conversations feel longer than necessary.
The ability to customize interaction with AI is an important aspect of chatbots. While OpenAI's adjustments to make ChatGPT more neutral are awaited, these commands can offer a temporary solution for those who prefer a more concise and efficient style of communication.
