The new artificial intelligence-driven tool for football fans in the Premier League proves to be ineffective.

Get ready for the 2025/2026 season.

The Premier League, recognized as the most-watched football league worldwide, has introduced a new artificial intelligence companion in its app for iOS and Android. This innovative tool, called Premier League Companion, arises from a long-term partnership with Microsoft, aimed at transforming the way 1.8 billion fans in 189 countries interact with the league.

Richard Masters, the CEO of the Premier League, expressed his enthusiasm for this collaboration, highlighting that it will enable a closer connection with fans by providing personalized content and real-time match analysis.

I had the opportunity to try the new Premier League Companion, powered by Microsoft Copilot, and although my initial experience has not been entirely positive, there is hope that artificial intelligence will enhance the enjoyment of being a Premier League follower.

So far, the tool is quite limited. The Premier League app has undergone a major redesign, available for free download. Upon opening the new app, users will be able to access the Premier League Companion, which functions similarly to the Microsoft Copilot chatbot in the Xbox app. However, the interaction is currently restricted, as it only offers three predefined options for responding to users, with no possibility of customizing the questions.

Despite how unhelpful it may seem at this moment, it has been announced that the current limitations should be resolved before the start of the 2025/2026 season, scheduled for August 15. The problem lies in the fact that the preset options restrict interaction, preventing a smooth and logical conversation about specific teams and players.

While the Premier League Companion may seem insignificant for now, improvements are expected to be implemented that will allow users to ask more relevant questions based on their interests.

If you decide to update the app, it's worth trying the Premier League Companion, as it might provide you with information on statistics you hadn't considered before. Although I haven’t been able to verify whether the tool will start suggesting options based on your previous choices, this feature could make the experience more useful as the season approaches.

Additionally, in an official statement about the collaboration, it was confirmed that Microsoft’s artificial intelligence will also be integrated into Fantasy Premier League, one of the most popular fantasy games. This component will provide followers with a personal assistant that will help them manage their fantasy teams more effectively. Personally, I am excited about the possibility of receiving extra support that could positively influence my decisions for the upcoming season.
