Your Netflix homepage will undergo the biggest update in its history, featuring generative artificial intelligence.

A monumental breakthrough.

Netflix is undergoing a significant transformation of its homepage interface on televisions, after more than a decade focused on streaming movies and TV shows. The rise of diverse content and live events, such as NFL games and boxing, has created the need for a change in how users navigate the platform. This new update, considered the most radical so far, is the result of two years of design and months of development.

Eunice Kemp, Netflix's Product Director, described the revamped interface as more flexible, intuitive, and responsive, utilizing modern elements that enhance the user experience. One of the highlights of this update is improved viewing of live events, offering real-time alerts that allow users to tune in at the right moment.

Additionally, Netflix has implemented a more efficient approach for users to find the content they want. Kemp pointed out that previously, members had to perform "eye gymnastics" to navigate between different rows and title details. With the new design, information such as 'Emmy Winner' or 'Number One in TV Shows' will be highlighted above the title images, thereby simplifying decision-making.

The use of artificial intelligence has also been expanded. Now, the system incorporates Generative AI into the search process, enabling users to ask questions in natural language for more effective movie and show recommendations. Elizabeth Stone, Chief Technology Officer, explained that this will enhance the search experience by providing useful results based on conversational requests, such as "I want something scary but not too much, and maybe a little funny."

Finally, Netflix's mobile experience will also receive updates, including the introduction of vertical videos, mainly consisting of trailers for new shows and movies, catering to current user preferences on mobile devices.

With these improvements, Netflix aims to refresh its platform and make it more accessible to contemporary audiences, offering a more intuitive and enriching browsing experience.
